Alexander McQueen was a brilliant designer, there is no doubt about that. Only he could create such intricate collections, bold cuts and mesmerizing patterns. McQueen was truly, one of a kind. After his untimely death, I honestly couldn't imagine the design house carrying on without him. Who will take over? Is anyone capable of filling his 12 inch, armadillo heeled shoes? Never!
Well, my ass wrong.
Alexander McQueen's new creative director Sarah Burton—the designer's right hand—came out on top with high honors. The line's Resort 2011 collection is something out of McQueen's head, with a subtle softer, girlier touch. Everything is very detail oriented—the shoes, the beading, accessories and evening gowns—everything is where its supposed to be. Most of the outfits are ready to wear, only a couple were bold runway statements. Of course, not as bold as Alexander himself, but truly keeping his legacy alive. You see the collection and you know its a McQueen. Burton was clearly the best choice to keep the design house and McQueen's spirit alive. Cheers to her.
