A Breath of Fresh Air

source
I can't get over Vogue's Happily Ever After spread featuring Anne Hathaway! Just ... wow!
Everything about this spread is truly stunning, I haven't been this excited over a Vogue spread in the longest time.

Mario Testino has somehow managed to outdo himself. I don't know how this man does it but his photographs just keep getting amazing. I still don't know who was behind the styling but it was done perfectly. The gowns, the sets, the jewelry--sweet Jesus, the jewelry!--accessories, the hair and makeup it was all outstanding! Every detail in every shot was set perfectly, I loved everything.

Of course, Hathaway's interview was the cherry on top. She is such a level headed young woman, I love that about her. She talks about her fears, her plans and how she's changed and matured with her recent experiences, both romantically and on her own. It's so refreshing to see a young star talk about her life without putting up a facade, without pretending the only thing she worries about is getting to yoga class on time. Here, Hathaway lets us in on how much her relationships affect her and how she's trying to overcome what, not long ago, once intimidated her.
"When I begin a relationship, there’s that pressure to be the most, to be more comfortable and open than anyone else. When you finally realize that you can just be your own scared, fucked-up self and that you can still be sexy without trying to be, it’s such a great relief. When uncondensed you is enough.
There really is nothing better than having a real, no bullshit conversation. This is exactly what this interview is, its a day spent with Hathaway talking about life, dreams, fashion and boys. She's one truly admiring chick.

Please pick up a copy of November's Vogue to catch all the photos in their spreadtastic glory and catch up with Hathaway in Adam Green's interview. (Okay if you don't have time you can do so online at the fabulous Vogue.com, but it won't be the same!)

Feelin' Inspired

source/source/liebling
This is what the corkboard in my brain looks like today.

Been feeling green and yellow a lot lately. I can't explain why. The season, perhaps? All the leaves are orangey yellow and faded green. That might be it, right? And the vintage vibe? Well, let's face it, I'm a huge vintage art, music, film, people lover. Everything vintage, I love, so its usually very present when it comes to designing.

Those Liebling shoes though, I saw them last week online, and they're still engraved in my head.
They want to be mine, I know it! Aren't they gorgeous? Very simple, men's look shoes, to pair with something pretty and delicate, like some yellow satin cropped pants! Or a Yellow dress? Ooh, green cords! Really, the possibilities are endless! Oh well, maybe a Christmas gift to myself.

For now, visit the Liebling site, its fabulous! They have a very cool variety of leather shoes, some very simple feminine shoes and some very spiffy manly shoes, you know, for the cool ladies that know how to rock them.

To fade, or not to fade ...

Christina Scarpelli Autumn/Winter 2010 campaign

The first photograph, really blew my away. I loved it.
Not only is she beautiful and captivating in this image but the color filter in this photograph gives an air of illusion, a softness that makes the photo pretty much perfect.

But then, I get to the rest of the photos.
I'm sorry I am not a fan of these at all. What is up with that white fade? Ugh. It looks terrible!
What a shame, really, because Sarah Bledsoe is such a beautiful girl and the photographs are very well shot. Even the sepia colored filters look great and the styling is right on target, its provocative and light. It's amazing. That fade though, that horrible white fade. I can't get over it. It really ruins the photos for me.

Crazy how one design element can ruin a good thing. What do you think?

Some Girls

This model, Kara, has one of the best 'come hither' stares. I love it! Such a gorgeous chick with a seducing look, you can't beat that. Also, this photo shoot for Kitten is so great. I love that it is so simple but so fantastic. The styling, the location and the model are perfect! It really is all in the detail.

Beyond Cute

source
Super adorable treats for everyone! Really, who can resist a tasty cupcake in a jar? This is beyond cute!

London-based Gilian Boateng, mother turned professional baker, offers delicious handmade desserts at her bakery G Desserts.

The specialty at G Desserts are the cupckaes in a jar, made from only the finest and freshest ingredients, with most of the ingredients sourced from local and regional producers in the UK.  And what's with the jars? Well, Boateng had originally started using them for portion control, but with time realized how efficient they are. The jars make the cupcakes travel safe and easy to store or refirgerate, but at the same time the jars make a beautiful impression at dinner parties, weddings and even as gifts!

If only they were available in the U.S., by now, I would have a desk full of jars!

Just Enough For Me + My Friends, Our Books + Our Liquor

One+ is a housing concept by the Swedish company add-a-room that allows users to build their home through prefabricated modules.
The system was designed by Danish architect Lars Frank Nielsen and uses 15m square rooms as building blocks for dwellings. The units are built off site and assembled on location to streamline the process and keep costs down. Users can use one module or combine multiple ones to create their own design. the system uses local Swedish materials and energy efficient windows and doors. Basic units start at around 35,000 USD.

How freaking cool is this?! I would so totally invest in one (or 4) of these somewhere beautiful, like a countryside or beachside. It would be ideal; the perfect getaway home.
Really all you need is just the basics to survive, no? A shower, a bed and a kitchen. The rest you make for yourself.

These rooms are all so cozy, they are just the right size to have my friends over, drink some wine, read some books and play some old records. Man, I wish I could call one of these 'home'. Talk about perfection! So good, I may be daydreaming about these for months.

Hello, October!

October really snuck up on me this year, but I am very happy to see its arrival.

I am oh so very excited! October is my favorite month of the year, followed of course, by December and my birth month, September. I love to see the weather changing, the fall leaves falling, the coats and the scarves making their appearances and the Halloween spirit that consumes many of us!

Happy October to you, kiddies! ;)
